Project Newport Is Signed Sealed and Delivered!

September 21, 2017

Project Newport is complete and I couldn't be happier with the result.  This project went from dark, dated and unfunctional to bright, modern and completely up to speed with the times.  This project began with a floor to ceiling gut.  We quite literally removed the roof and increased the ceiling height by putting a brand new hidden beam in to give the great room a smooth flat ceiling that keeps the space flowing.  The kitchen was reworked to bring down a beefy wall that separated the spaces and now hosts a large waterfall style island, faced in shiplap which is perfect for entertaining and watching the big game!  We also gave the old bookcase a update that pulled the moldings to the ceiling to fill a gap that once existed and added decorative lighting and hardware to freshen it up!  Then there's the fireplace that was so sad when we first came into the home, so we reframed it, paneled it in shiplap and added a stunning marble look quartz to the face and hearth. The flooring in this new great room  was also a little design challenge. The kitchen previously had tile and since our client purchased the wood years ago, and with a color that is pretty particular we ended up sourcing a custom flooring vendor who was able to locate unfinished oak planks for us.  He installed this in a mirrored pattern as the original was installed at a 45 degree angle.  We added two transition boards at the island and then mirrored the angle to give a stunning chevron detail.  Our flooring guy did an amazing job matching the finish and it turned out so seamless and blended perfectly.  Finally, we made our way down the hall to the bathrooms, each received a full gut and rework of layout to make it more functional for our client.  A new vanity space, jetted tub and linen closet was added to the guest bath, and the master bath received a new entry, second sink and new rain style shower fixture.  We put our focus into cutting edge materials, mixed metals and well designed lighting.  We are so thankful for our clients, we've been so fortunate to work with people who believe in our design capabilities and trust us enough to transform their home into something they can't wait to show off!  Enjoy your new home David!
